We, Charles and Linda, purchased this property in the late 1970's and along with our two children, spent many weekends working the property but still finding time to enjoy the panoramic mountain views and to hike down the mountain side to the steep, cascading waterfalls. As our senior years approached, we decided if we were going to build, the time was drawing near.

In 2005, we began the first phase of the construction - River Watch. Charles having owned a construction company actually designed the house himself and supervised the construction. The entire second phase of the design was focused on incorporating into every room of the house either the mesmerizing sounds and spectacular views of the waterfalls or that of the stunning mountain views. It was especially challenging adjoining the original structure, River Watch, to the additional structure, Cliffside which had to be perched on the edge of the cliff in order to "reach" that goal.

We decided to name the entire house IL Bella Vista, "a beautiful view". With an Italian name, we just had to decorate with somewhat of an Italian flair even though we are located in the West Virginia Mountains.

IL Bella Vista is our vacation home and we are offering its use to others as a private mountain getaway. We welcome guests who desire to experience the beauty and tranquility of nature at her finest. We offer our guests the opportunity to escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life in order to enjoy nature's beauty, nature's adventure, nature's excitement. Enjoy the house, enjoy the waterfalls, enjoy the mountain views, enjoy the land, but most of all "find yourself" at IL Bella Vista.
